Nilagdaan na ng Japan at Pilipinas ang kasunduan para pag-ibayuhin ang kooperasyon sa “Emergency Warning Broadcasting System and Data Broadcasting of Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting.”

Sinaksihan nina Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar at Japan Minister and Consul General Atsushi Kuwabara ang paglalagda na ginanap sa pagdiriwang ng 2nd ASEAN-Japan Television Festival sa Seda Vertis North Hotel sa Quezon City kamakailan.

Kumatawan para sa Pilipinas sina PCOO Undersecretary Noel Goerge Puyat at People’s Television Network General Manager Dino Antonio Apolonio habang sa Japan naman ay si Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination (International Affairs) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Masahiko Tominaga.

“We are told that it was used during the Fukushima incident. Iyong Shinkansen bullet trains managed to stop x number of seconds on a minute prior to the earthquake hitting, (and) saved lives; iyong ability to turn on television sets to broadcast this warning maski na naka-off,” paliwanag ng dating pangulo.
