Nagpahayag ng pagkagalak ang
Malacañang sa pagkakalathala ng Japan Times sa artikulo ng CNN na nagsasabi na
ang “Asia’s Best Year” ay iginagawad kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
“It’s heartening to know that
certain media agencies are able to notice the good things the President is
doing,” saad ni Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella sa isang pahayag.
Inilathala ng Japan Times ang
artikulo noong Enero 2 na may titulong “Sayonara to the year that was” kung
saan nanguna si Duterte sa kategorya “by winning his nation’s presidency in a
landslide last May and subsequently upending, rethinking and reshaping the
state of affairs — for good or for bad — at home and abroad.”
Magugunitang unang inilathala ang
artikulo sa CNN noong Disyembre 23 sa ilalim ng titulong “The winners and
losers in Asia in 2016” kung saan itinanghal na “big winner” ang pangulo ng mga
manunulat na sina Curtis S. Chin at Jose B. Collazo.
“In early December, the Social
Weather Stations survey firm had Duterte enjoying a 77 percent approval rating
as Filipinos continue to put their trust in their controversial president. For
now, the Philippine leader’s unconventional moves seem a harbinger of things to
come,” saad sa artikulo.
“Duterte ended 2016 seeking to
rebalance his nation’s ties, improve the life of the average Filipino and make
the Philippines — a one-time economic and trade powerhouse — great again. And
for that, Asia’s best year goes to Duterte,” ayon pa rito.
Ang Japan Times ang pinakamalawak
na English newspaper sa bansang Hapon.
